I go to an annual build your own bobsled race every year (put on by 101.7 the radio station)with my high school buddies. All of the sleds are made out of cardboard and duct tape but some people really make cool sleds.
Three years ago we made a Trojan horse that stood about 7 ft tall out of industrial strength cardboard and entered the bobsled race. at the beginning of the race I popped out of the hatch in the horses back and lit a torch (a tee shirt on a steak drenched in gasoline)and we began sliding down the hill. We got pretty good speed but then we hit the wall of the bobsled track and flipped over. All 5 guys in the horse were pretty shaken up but I was ejected from the hatch and hit my head on the ice really hard. The whole team immediately grabbed parts of the sled and ran to the finish line. when i got there everyone was asking me if i was ok. I thought so but then i put my hand on my head and it was covered in blood i realized that my forehead was split wide open above my eye and streaming blood down my cheek.

OK so in MN there is a place called Giant's Ridge. It is awesome for Nordic Skiing (X-country) so our nordic team went up there alot during the winter. One time a bunch of people decided to ski with our nordic skis, which are a lot longer and less stable than downhill skis, on a walking trail. so there was a little path and a foot of new snow. We were skiing along and falling on every downhill and turn. We came to a huge downhill with a turn and all 6 of us wipeout in a row and fall into a big pile. Most of us were buried in the snow, which had rocks underneath. It was hilarious. That's not a good story at all haha but maybe it will help!

Last winter in Denver we were tubing down a huge hill and i was the 4th one to go down. Everyone else kept hitting this bump and then would get stopped. I wasn't so lucky. I hit the bump flew up in the air did a 180 then flipped off head first and rolled the rest of the way down the hill. I had the wind knocked out of me but that was luckly it.

I come from the coast of Maryland, where it is FLAT. Therefore, there are zero good hills for sledding - except for in my friend's backyard. It was super steep, and awesome for sledding. The problem with this hill, though, was that at the bottom it dropped off about four feet into thick woods. So when we sledded down the hill, we had to make sure to roll off before the dropoff. However... my friend decided to be daring and wait until the last minute, and she fell over the edge. We ended up having to mount a "rescue mission" (she grabbed onto the sled and we pulled it up by the rope) because she couldn't climb back up. She wasn't hurt, but she definitely could have been... but in the end, it just made for a sweet story! :D
Good luck with your article!

I live on a lake in Ohio and about 5 or 6 winters ago, my siblings and I were ice skating in front of our house. My little sister fell down and tripped me. I fell forward, chin first into the jagged point of her ice skate. When I got up, my head ached so my from my face slamming into the hard ice that I didn't realize I was bleeding everywhere. My mom came down and helped me up the hill and drove me to the hospital. I recieved 7 stitches in my chin.

At a church retreat a couple years ago we decided to play human bowling down a sledding hill. my friend (who was a pin) got hit and broke his collar bone!

I have an extensive story about sledding, I was in a sledding accident when I was in 5th grade with my best friend, she had to be flown to the hospital and was crazy messed up in the face and had a concussion. I got a tailbone injury that turned into a spin injury which turned into a hip injury which I have been in physical therapy for to this day, all for falling off a sled. So that's my story.

When I was 14 I went skiing at Nubs Nob with my family. After foolishly thinking I could handle a black diamond, I went screaming down the hill past all of the other skiers who were making smooth patterns in the snow. Then I crashed into (of all people!) my brother and our skies went flying. It was terribly embarrassing and I definitely had sore muscles after that. No huge injury, though.
